SEE THE RULE IN ACTION

Find the missing number in a box

This is one 3 × 3 box from a larger puzzle. Its eight fixed clues contain every digit except 5. The ? marks the empty square.

This is a separate example. Trying it does not change your game or saved progress.

Does an unmarked number mean it is correct?

No. The game marks repeated numbers in a row, column or box; it does not compare every entry with the solution. A guess can look fine now and cause a contradiction later.

How should I use pencil notes?

Select an empty square, turn Notes on, and mark digits that still fit its row, column and box. Tap a digit again to remove that note. Notes are manual: they do not update automatically when you fill a neighboring square. Turn Notes off to enter your answer.

Which puzzle style should I choose?

More clues gives you more filled squares to work from. Balanced clues and Fewer clues leave more spaces to solve, but clue count is not a rating of solving techniques. Every generated puzzle has one solution. New puzzle replaces your saved board, entries and notes.
